Frosted Gray Curly Buck, Fahr, one of our Astrex Rabbits
foundation bucks. He was a true sweetheart... I loved him dearly.
Sable Super Curly Astrex Rabbit Buck, Legend.
He was a great LOVE in my life... Only 5 months old here.
Hello, I'm Rett. We've gone through a great deal of life changes in the last few years, (losing family, moving, marriage again after a spouse's death, a young family member being adopted by my sister, taking in and adopting out cats from a friend that basically lost her home, and a couple of hurricanes thrown in... the last being IDA of 2021... we were directly in her landfall path!!).
Last April we purchased a 9 acre farm in the country with room for Astrex Rabbits CURLY bunnies galore, a few "magical" cats, and soon, some cows for my husband, (and of course chickens),
Finally We are getting our New Astrex Rabbits Site UP!!
Hello I'm Rett, of Astrex Rabbits. Our site AstrexRabbits.com was the ONLY site on the world wide web back in 1999 when we begin introducing, promoting and informing the modern world of Astrex Rabbits Curly Wavy Bunnies!! Back then I bred, and also was showing Mini Rex, Nether Dwarfs, and bred other breeds on the side. My heart longed for CURLY Rabbits. Think it's silly if you want... I don't care... I asked God Himself why the world didn't have CURLY RABBITS?? We had curly dogs, curly cats, curly geese... why not Curly Rabbits?? I dug through old books and contacted anyone and everyone back then. Only four other rabbit related people that I found DID NOT think I was crazy saying I was going to breed CURLY RABBITS. The old information I found read there was once an attempt to develop "astrex type" rabbits but the rabbits were very sickly and difficult to breed.
In the 1940's wavy bunnies were imported to the United States from England for "farther development" as they were sickly and thin furred.
I will say in 24 years of Astrex Rabbits I have seen many weaknesses that we had to overcome in their development (I will go into this on another page when this new site is father developed.)
Ripples, My little Astrex Rabbits Buck, was truly Heaven sent to me. He was born on Thanksgiving Day 2001. It was a joint effort of three rabbits that saved his litter that very cold November day! I will tell his amazing story soon, as our new Astrex Rabbits Curly Wavy Bunnies site develops. Ripples was my baby, my house bunny. He ate cereal out of a bowl and slept with me. He carried toys all over the house, drove me crazy sometimes and was one of the great loves of my life!!
